During one of our MOSS 2007 POC for our client , we implemented AJAX enabled weparts based on
Daniel Larson's ASP.NET AJAX Extensions Toolkit for SharePoint and
his blog is a good starting point for Implementing Ajax Based Webparts for Sharepoint(MOSS 2007).
